My Epson V500 does quite well with 120 negs but 35mm slides don't scan nearly as well as they look. Oh well. If I shot more 135 I'd be more bummed.
Hi,
Great photo of your great aunt, a lot of character shows in it.
This is the second time around with a G1, I sold the first one I had several months and regretted it instantly. Luckily I found one on the b&s bard here a few weeks ago bought it. I use it when I don't feel like lugging around my DSLR and I use it like a point and shoot, all auto and very brainless. I'll hold on to this one.
I don't scan myself, there's a local lab that puts them on a disk for me and the files are of a decent size to work with. This option may be going away though, he say he doesn't do much film.
You guys can always try northcoastphoto.com. I've not tried them yet but am about to send off an order. I've heard good things. The budget scans seem to be enough for me, plenty big enough - $10 with developing per roll.
I think fortia SP isn't available in the USA. It's only sometimes available here in Japan. Fujifilm made it specifically for photographing cherry blossoms. Nothing else, just cherry blossoms.

About $100 for 5 rolls if I remember right
Are you serious? Fortia had two runs, Fortia in 2003 and Fortia SP in 2005. It probably used the old Velvia base which makes it unlikely to ever be made again. I have 10 rolls left in 35mm and maybe 3 left in 120. It cost the same as Velvia which was about 3,000 yen for a 5 pack of 120 and 1000 yen for a roll of 35mm. I give it as a gift to my friends around the world.

Looks like Chris in that last shot - Nikkor 5.8cm?? Also, that is the first pic I have seen of Nate without flip-flops - WTF? Must have been a cold day.... Nice shots!
I do love my flip flops. I would throw all of my other shoes away if I could wear them for work.

My box has 2006.11 printed on it - so I guess it's the 2005 run you spoke of. I bought it in 2007 off of yahoo auctions (where there was 3 or 4 auctions of it) for about $100 or something - for a box of 5 rolls.

So far I've shot 42 rolls of 35mm and 7 of 220 while on my trip. What a developing bill this is going to be!
It didn't ever retail for $100 for 5 rolls, but it did reach that on some auctions sites. I'm glad to see you putting it to good use shooting obaachan since you are right, it was made for cherry blossoms. Sorry the runs were 2005 and 2007. Also if your box expired in 06 it must have been Fortia and not Forita SP.
