anyone tried fujifilm s pro 160? what's it like? more like portra or more like ektar? i don't see it on sale on b&h but it's offered on taobao. i may try some.
If I remember correctly the Pro 160 is a neutral film designed for scanning and easier post processing.

I have shot a ton of 160NS. It's a great film, sadly out of production now. Very sharp, with low saturation compared to Superia or Ektar.
160NS is very rare outside of China. I could find almost none in Japan when I was last there. Only some rolls of 220 were available.
Get it while you can, as it's gone once stock runs out.

My first roll of film in some years. Fuji GW690 (Texas Leica) and expired Reala. Used my X-T1 for metering. Converted some of the shots to BW.

Wonderful camera, beautiful shots, and great model.....but converting Reala to black and white?? Oh man Reala has such *awesome* color. Good god!!!!
Thanks, it has mostly to do with the lousy CanonScan 8400F scanner used to scan. I was having trouble with getting the colors right and decided to try BW and liked it better.
If I don't lose interest soon I will probably get a proper scanner...
sounds like it's worth a try... 120 is about $4 a roll, 2017 expiration. there doesn't seem to be a shortage at the moment

In a few months or so I'm about to leave China and move back home to the US. I may end up buying a huge amount of the 160NS and take it with me! You cant get it easily outside of China.

Love that pano shot. Maybe a dumb question, but how do you print a pano when u send it out? (I use Costco). Is it printed on a regular 2:3 size paper, with a thick horizontal border/white space so it retains the correct image (which can then be trimmed)? Or do u need to send a pano image to a specialty lab to print?
Unfortunately I have no idea! I just send my film off to be developed and then scan it myself, I've not had any printed but I assume most convenience stores wouldn't know where to start and would probably just give you back cropped 4x5s!

You can learn EVERYTHING about film and printing there.
Rob, don't sell yourself short! Your work and some from others convinced me to take the Xpan plunge myself a few months ago. I went back and forth about it, but finally realized that I often 'think' in widescreen. When KEH had a sale and a nice copy of one available, i jumped on it.
I think the charm, magic and challenge of this camera is the panoramic composition while shooting, rather than a crop afterwords....of course, combined with great optics!
had some film laying around undeveloped for a while and finally got it developed. tried "scanning" with a macro and slide duplicator. seems something got lost somewhere in the process...
