Nice! Impressive focusing. I've wondered what that lens looks like wide open but never once used it that way since there's no rangefinder coupling.
Usually I just shoot 400 ASA at f8 in sunlight, prefocus everything. Good for everything from a few feet out (this is a funky Sensia 400 scan);
That shot was some 800 Press shot at 500. I had to see what the lens looked like wide open. I just guessed the distance, I guess rather accurately and shot.

is this a good place to ask about people's results with NCPS high-res scans? Dust, scratches, color space, profiling, turnaround time, etc?
Sure, I've used their enhanced and budget scans. The rolls I'm waiting on were all budget. I didn't see enough of a difference in the detail or sharpness to warrant double the price, the resolution was obviously higher. The colors are excellent and accurate, the turn around time is sort of slow. They are only open Mon-Thurs so if your film shows up on a Wednesday it won't be sent back until at least the next Monday. I've not had any dust or scratches show up in any of my scans, but they did totally skip scanning on shot on a roll or Ektar I sent and another 6 exposures, all on the same cut strip has some sort of red line in the scans, but not on the film.
They are decent, but their scanner is not all that amazing. It's the same scanner that most labs have, I guess they just know how to use it. Ken Rockwell's site has a TON of scans from them, all Velvia and all glorious. You can search my stream with the tag NCPS if you want to see what I've posted from them.
Shot from a late spring storm last year. I think it was in early May, but may have been late April. Can't remember whether I was using my Pentax 135/2.5 or my 70-300IS. Either way its Kodak's HD400 film.
Another shot of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods from the same morning. Same film, but I would guess this was shot with the 17-40L.
