G617 is nice camera. I only wish it did not have such a loud clank when shutter is released. Recently I have bought small light table from BH and looked at my slides on it. It is great experience, quite different from viewing images on monitor screen. I also bought new PCI express SCSI card, put together few SCSI male-female cable adapters and now I can connect my old Imacon scanner to PC with Windows 8 64bit. Cost me 150 USD but I can now be sure to be able to use scanner with latest and greatest PC/OS combinations. I am scanning my slide archive as I want to print better ones.
Here are some shot with Fuji GSW690. First is Velvia 50, second in Provia 100.
Excellent! I just bought a brick of 160NS yesterday.
That's a great film for portraiture. I rarely buy film but I just (somewhat impulsively) bought 25 rolls of Neopan 400 in 120 format (which is pretty rare here in the US bigger than 35mm). I will really miss Neopan 400 once it's completely gone.

My Dad recently gave me a very old (20yrs?) roll of Kodachrome 64 film to get developed. IIRC - nobody can develop this film anymore. Is this correct?
Nope - Kodak no longer makes the chemistry. You may want to call old labs that used to do it to see if they can process it as black and white. It's not guaranteed to work, but at least you'll be able to see what was on it (maybe).
