Yeah, they even have a NEX section of their forums.
But then again, you can learn a lot about film and scanning from the people there.
They have a section for pretty much everything over there, but the focus seems a bit different too me, YMMV. I like dropping in from time to time and there is a lot of good knowledge there.
This film was a bit of a painful experiment.
Rollei ATO 2.1 is an ISO12 (or less) Orthochromatic Lith film.
I spent forever cleaning up the scan because Rollei in their infinite wisdom ship the film loose (ie. not sealed in plastic) inside a cardboard box so before you even expose it the film is coated in dust.
Here's a recent shot from Shanghai, also on Provia 400X. In the foreground is a neighborhood, in the process of being torn down each day. People live in their houses until the last second when the jack hammers take down their house. Even though their next door neighbor's house might be being torn down, they will live right on through that.
In the background is the new, modern buildings going up to replace the old ones. You can see the huge difference in capacity. Shanghai is absorbing hundreds of thousands of new people each year and they have to have a home somewhere.
Taking a self-imposed break from work, and just got through viewing the recent posts, which are very nice.
weezintrumpete: The isolation with the rider & horse works very well...nice work with the Rollei!
thrice: I have enjoyed your posts for their artistic value and the fact that you are not afraid to try something new and post the results (as painful to you as they may be ). Ortho can be plain nasty with skin issues (blemishes), turning areas blotchy. I used IR B&W for a bit with informal (friends & family) head-shots, and liked the rendering better. You managed to pull off a great result in spite the the films shortcoming...well done!
rattymouse: Great shots, and a sign of the times in Shanghai as well as other coastal areas I would imagine. Love to see more from HK!
This thread and it's images makes me realize WHY I love film so much. Each post is wonderful and I love looking through here. Thrice - lovely image - ortho rocks, does it not? Heres some of my own ortho shots (in 35mm - expired cine stock). I LOVE the mood this film creates!

Wow....what film? What scanner? Awesome.
probably his field camera and the scanner is a Noritsu which means it's most likely a lab scan.
I actually just bought a three way head for my Sinar, I took it out yesterday and remembered a. how fulfulling large format is and b. how shooting without a proper head is basically impossible.
I was going to buy a Pentax 67 too. I'm trying really hard not too =/
btw nice shots and thumbs up on Acros, that stuff is the elixer of the heavens.
