As for the scan comments, imho film best use is in optical/wet printing, and in projection. It doesn't seem to do that well in scanning. Still good scans will produce beautiful prints, probably better than prints from digital captures. The worst thing that can be done to film is to be viewed on monitor screens. The loss of IQ is too great and it is not fair to film. That is why I stopped posting scans in other threads, because digital files are so much better for web viewing.
You should try the new Ektar/Portra, Edward - Kodak developed these specifically with scanning in mind.
Edward -- Yes, that pretty much confirms my experiences with film, and specifically 35mm. I used to shoot only Fuji Velvia, and it worked fine for all commercial purposes that didn't require 4x5 quality. Transparency always scanned well, but negatives didn't give me as good of results in my film days. I think film can work for scans/internet. I'm not at all unhappy with my last batch here. It's just the PP setting are totally different than for my digital source files.
And coincidentally, last night I ordered 10 rolls of 120 and 5 rolls of 35mm Ektar 100 from B&H!
I still have 40 rolls of Fuji 160 Pro S 120 film, and about a dozen Reala to try.
Rolling w/ the roll film talks...
I *think* I've correctly loaded my Sinar 6x9 roll film back last night.
Hope so, anywho, gonna try it this weekend.
As previously stated, wont really know until it's back from a lab...
I was going through this thread (again), and wow, great shots!!
Wondering how many scan their own shots and how many have labs do it? I am going to have a local lab here (Blue Moon Camera here in PDX) do the scanning - and hope to get some good results. My lens is the same one I used on the 1Ds, btw - so I know it is sharp...
I'm wanting to use my C-41 developing kit but don't want to have the working solution sit around. It's surprising how little 4x5 exhausts developer. Especially with how little I shoot.

Thanks
As for C41, this kit is very good for small batches, it is designed for that kind of use... Read the blurb at the bottom of the page it comes in 3 different sizes...

Yeah that's what I have. My 4x5 daylight tank requires a little over 1000ml though. So the whole kit would need to be made into a working solution. And then the shelf life might only be 6 weeks depending on bottles and storage. I could get 4x5 btzs tubes which use ~60ml and I may do that, but my 8x10 ones leave scratches. Incredible difference in the amount of chemicals used though. The small 1l digibase kit I have can do over 40 4x5's. I don't think anyone in the U.S sells the 500ml set. At $23 the 1l kit is quite a deal if I had enough film to develop.
The link I sent was for the 5 litre kit... You can then knock up one litre at a time, the concentrate lasts well in its bottles and is how rollei designed the kit to be used..... So with a one ltre tank you have 5 batches of working solution... Not bad really.... I live in Norway and not a lot of choice for c41 chems, I get mine from first call and even taking into account postage and import duty it's still cheaper than sending out films and quite frankly I have always enjoyed the process....

It's certainly not bad but even then I don't think it'd be worth it for me with only 5 batches. I just ordered some 4x5 BTZS tubes which use 60ml of chemistry so that will make it much easier for me. Then I can just mix up what I need and still get 4 or so negatives out of it.
Haven't posted anything in a while because I've got nothing to post. So here is one test shot with the Aero Ektar:
