It's something I long suspected. If there is a problem with an image - it is my fault. I am the weakest link - it never is the equipment. I own half a dozen tripods, but don't like using them. Thought my smc Pentax-A 45mm f2.8 was soft wide open. So I put it on a tripod with self timer. Nope, the lens is fine - I'm the problem. The older I get the more I let myself down.
In brighter news I found someone else thought of a way to transport film for dslr scanning similar to an idea I had for a mod to the EFH. Jake's idea was way better than mine and uses a "S" curve tension system to flatten the film. It came yesterday, and it is brilliant. These are the first two frames of a roll of 645 that took little time to scan.
I've been using Negative Supply since the Kickstarter days but Tone has some features I wish NS had. The negative tray is something I've always wish NS had added. It's better than a cardboard box or just letting your negatives drape across the desk. I tried the NS Pro Carrier 120 MK2 but found it too fiddly and use their Basic Carrier 120. I tried trimming the corners of the feed end of the negatives but still had problems with it loading smoothly.
Your scans look good and keep us updated on your experience with using the Tone system.

I started off with Negative Supply with the their light and pro carrier but the parts didn't all connect together well, they wobbled because they were not all flat, and kept popping apart from one another. It's possible that replacing them could have got me a better version but I was pretty disappointed with the overall quality considering how expensive it all was. The carrier also left scratch marks down the edge of my film, it was in the rebate area though so.. not a big deal but still, would be nice to avoid that if possible. I did email their support and tell them of my experience just to give them some feedback and they ghosted me.
So, I just returned it all and ordered the Tone carrier and a narrow band RGB light (Scanlight). I hope the Tone system works!
I think once I get it where I have something working decently I'll post up a walk through of the parts just in case that is helpful for others
