I do like Kodak's Double-X which is natively ISO 250, good balance of grain and speed. And I've heard K200 is a reasonable substitute since XX is harder to get these days.
To my eyes Double-X has something special / cinematic going on - with the halation, and also the (for lack of a better word) "depth" the images posess ..which Kentmere 200 does not have.
It's really good film though, especially for the price - great for everyday stuff if one prefers a bit of a "punchy" look!
For what it's worth, here's a shot from one of my two rolls with it from beginning of the year, straight from the scanner -
These are from a long expired roll of Plus-X - expired approximately (no box) the late 1990s. The base came out fogged, and the grain is quite noticeable - even though the images were shot in the last few days.
Thanks for the memories Huss. When I was a little kid I went door to door to paint house numbers on the curb. The re-usable stencils were dirt cheap at the "five and dime" store. I haven't seen one in 60 years
