Could someone point me to good info about doing my own scanning? What are you guys doing? I've been developing at Dwayne's and just having them handle my scans. 20 year old shooter just learning the beauty of film.
I just dropped $350 for a Plustek 7600 (I had an Epson V500 before). The scans I'm getting out of the Plustek are really fantastic, but you do have to put in the extra work to scan individual frames.
Prior to the plustek I was using said epson along with having costco scan in my negatives for $2.99/roll. The $2.99 price is the same even if you process B&W at home and bring in the processed negs to the store.
Sure, I can oblige. I've got a lot more either chilling in the fridge waiting for me to process the film or sitting on the negative waiting for me to scan them. It's a great lens, quite a bit of vignetting wide open (I'll rarely use it there) but at the same time I'm still in disbelief how small it is (after lugging around a D700 & 17-35).
Another instant film image, this time purely ambient (fluro) light, shot at my sister's 30th so I'd had mayyybe a few too many, but it still seems to have come out ok.
Ebony 45s, Linhof Zeiss 135/3.5 Planar, 1/100s, f/3.5, Fuji F-3000B ISO 3000 instant film.

I really enjoy that stuff. The grain...well at that 1:1 size, who cares? It brings a lot of spontaneity and "insta-joy" to photography again.
And the kicker is, it's only about a buck a shot. Er..in the U.S. that is.

Martin, these are great! That Heliar seems to render a lot like the 90mm f/3.5 APO and I do really like those Ektar colours
When you develop at home, do you mix the entire kit of chemicals at once and then store and use them for the next few weeks? Or are you measuring out just enough for each run?

Haha yes, in the US! If you use the 3.25" x 4.25" version which I just learned fits fine in the PA-45 holder I have. I've been using the 4x5" stuff which is a bit more, about $2.5 a shot. I ruined a whole pack of FP-100C by not loading it properly .. somehow (every shot was blank). EDIT: Wait, no, the 3.25x4.25 won't fit my PA-45... oh well.

Yeah, I really like the lens! But unfortunately the rangefinder base of the camera is too short for wide open shots, so I'll mostly use it stopped down with fast film in the future. I think it might be a tiny bit miscalibrated, becase DOF seems to start where I focus and then continue onwards, which makes even the slightest misfocus very visible. Because of this, about 50% of the wide open shots are spot on while 50% are a bit backfocused.
The colors are way off here, but I like it anyway.

I mixed the full 1 liter kit on the 2:nd of April, and it's still going strong. Though I now develop for 5:30 minutes instead of 3:30, which is the recommended time when the chemicals are fresh. Prolonging the time with ~10-15 seconds for every roll seems reasonable.
