I'm not sure what if any differences exist between the FP4 type 517 and the regular FP4 (before Ilford released the newer FP4+). A guy from Ilford weighs in on a discussion of the differences between FP4 and FP4+ here: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/fp4-and-fp4.100401/

Maybe Ilford could convince Kodak to start spooling 5222 in to 36 exposure rolls.
You can of course get Eastman 5222 from respoolers, at least for now. I've shot some from Flic Film in 35mm and have a roll here in 120 from Reflx Lab that I plan to shoot later this winter at a portrait session.
There are differences in the base layer for sure based on issues people have had when they push the film and use certain developers such as Perceptol. I have some Perceptol and I am going to try it but rate it at 100 ISO to see if the results on grain and base layer issues are better.
Here's a link to one Flickr album that shows not only the same light leak issue I've had using an F80 but also some shots showing base layer issues from under exposure. All the pushed exposures were at 250 ISO. That issues appears as striped developing across the frame. This film was not intended for its current use so the issues are able to be mitigated with proper technic.

That's Cinestill BwXX if you don't mind paying a bit more than you would from respoolers.
I used a lot of 5222 in 2020. At that time 100’ roll was about $90 from Photo Warehouse and I still have a Alden 74 bulk loader.
It’s not so much about the film’s availability but Kodak passing up on marketing their own product.
Thanks to the influence of this forum, I have an FM2 and roll of Portra 800 on the way 😎 It will be the first 35mm film I’ve shot in the last 20 years.

If you still have the bulk loader Ultrafine sells a 100 ft roll but ~$120

Another Fuji Velvia 50 4” x 5” exposed in Toyo metal field camera, with Nikon 300mm f/9 lens
If you decide to add a lens, a 55 Micro-Nikkor is one of the most versatile lenses Nikon made. Very sharp and useable as an everyday lens but with much better close focus ability than a regular 50. Add the extension ring for 1:1.
Have fun with it!

The 55/2.8 is classic! I’e had one for several years that has been hiding in my basement equipment room and recently have been enjoying it again adapted to Sony. My 3-lens kit will be 28/2.8, 55/2.8, 105/2.5. I also have a beautiful 180/2.8 that I just love and will work that in at times when I don’t mind the extra weight.

Not sure how many times I'm allowed to say WOW regarding your photos, but WOW!
I appreciate that!

That 300mm lens is also on my 'to buy' list for my 4x5 system. 2025 is all about 4x5 for me.
GREAT lens choice! I used it on field cameras with not much more than 12” bellow extension and it worked so well for landscape (but could not focus close with those cams). Look forward to seeing your large format work this year!

Pheonix does best shot at 100 and dev pulled a stop but if you can't pull, shoot it at 160. It does really well with blues, and home scanning helps too. Lots of labs have real hard time scanning Pheonix.
I had read a lot of people like it when shot at 100, but figured since it was my first roll, I would shoot at box speed. Will def trying shooting it a 100 next time.
