When I found those unused rolls of 20+ year old Tri-X - little did I know what lay ahead for me on my return to film after such a long hiatus. A thread on this board got me looking for a good AF pro level camera to go with my other MF film bodies. (my eyes are not so good anymore) It is embarrassing to admit how crazy I went on the N90 and N90s. I paid $17.50-$45 each for 6 bodies (three of them wih lenses and other goodies included) - They all work great, and I've given two away already. This is HP5 developed in Xtol with a 1:1 dilution. This one was the first to arrive. I had a digital setup for critters on a desktop tripod, and wondered if my modified TC-16A would work on the N90s - it does! Nikon N90s with the Nikkor 600mm f5.6 ais and the 1.6X teleconverter for an EFL of 960mm. Happy with the grain on the iso 400 rated HP5.

I have not shot much with my N90S since I bought it. But is a really good feeling full featured camera. The ergos are great and stuff is easy to find. Its heavy and a wee bit bulky but it fulfills my desire for a pro film camera aka F3/F5/F100. Pretty awesome for $40.

Excellent! And isn't it amazing you can get cameras that good for that cheap?
The last one I bought for the Press, to be the 4th body on the NC2000AP, cost well north of $1100. I wore out 3 of them and it always was the shutter at about 150k. I couldn't believe how cheap they were now. If they don't have the battery insert or back - skip em. They were likely used on the digital back and are spent.

Same roll as above, but these shots show the emulsion issue. At least they didn't have greasy finger prints on them like I've seen in the past!
I guess Shanghai's QC people must have been trained by Leica...
Ilford's HP5 can really shine - I just need to watch out for the scanner constantly trying to sharpen by default. N90s with various Nikkors (oh I miss that metadata)
No clue where this film was coming from, maybe an accessory to a camera I bought? Anyhow, expired 20 years, so I overexposed it by 2 stops. Very positive surprised how this came out
