With all the density tests over the last few pages. What accurate densitometers are people using?
I just use my spot meter. Take a measurement of the blank frame to determine base + fog, hit the deltaEv button and step through all other frames to directly measure "stops below Base + Fog". I bring the meter into contact with the sleeve to prevent any ambient light to mess up the data, and the film is in the sleeve to prevent scratches.
Thank you theHUN. I was curious since an accurate densitometer by X-rite costs a small fortune - if they even make them anymore. I consider your method is a relative density comparison, and is valuable for your shooting and development approach.
I'd like to suggest another way to think about this. There are practical and easy ways to shift density in both analog or digital. In analog printing it was poly contrast filters and paper. In digital scans you can DSLR scan a less than perfect negative and push it closer to perfect by bracketing your scan. In Photoshop, blending modes have been there since way back. I am sure there are other tools, but testing can take away time from shooting. Keep on shooting.

Just got these scans today. A couple from a trip to Belgium a couple of months ago. TriX on the Canon EOS 600 with either the 40/2.8 or 50/2.5...can't remember.
