I've been looking for a portable storage device to download CF cards to in the field. Does anyone use this Apacer Portable CD Burner with built in CF Card reader?
I had one, but ended up returning it since the apple ipod card reader came available at the same time I bought the CP100 (I think).
Seemed to work very well, and the only reason I didn't want it was because I knew I would be bringing my ipod with me everywhere anyway, and then that solution seemed more elegant.
I have a CP100, the 200 wasn't available here when I bought it. Haven't used it that much, but so far it has worked without a hitch.
There are several things to like about it it. It runs a couple of hours on a charge, I got an external CD-RW for my older laptop and I got a card reader for the laptop as well. This, and of course the main reason I bought it for, to store pictures in the field.
I own one and keep a spare in case I break one . Here is my opinion . This is a great device to own . I went on a 14 day trek and took only this device as a storage device . During my trip I filled up my 512 mb cf card 47 times . I downloaded all images to this device in the check mode . All 47 cd's were fine with no lost data and 0 errors . So far I have have burned over 350 error free cd's in the field and this device functions flawlessly . I have a pro friend of mine who says he has burned over 500 cd's with his unit .
