I don't usually take photos of birds, much less try for birds in flight, but this little fella let me get so close I was able to get him at 70mm. Who says you need a 300mm lens to shoot birds in flight

The Kookaburra is a kind of kingfisher - our birds aren't quite as pretty as your Kingfishers in the Northern hemisphere but here it is anyway.
