My name is John and I am a new Nikon shooter. I bought myself a D40x with two kit lenses for xmas. 18-55mm 3.5/5.6 and 55/200mm 4/5.6. My motivation is to shoot fashion. I own a hair salon in delray beach, florida and as a result I have an unlimited supply of models. Getting into it I realize I need to upgrade my gear. Any advice on an appropriate lens for my first upgrade??

Hi John and welcome to FM. For fashion shooting, I'd suggest you initially look at some fast primes like the 85 1.8 and 50 1.4 as a start. These will give you better quality shots and more control of DOF for selective focus (background blur). I'm sure others with more expertise in this area will offer more assistance.
