Some of you may recognize this fellow, I posted a portrait of him last week. I watched him for while that day, he quite proficient at catching small minnow size fish. It seemed like a hard way to fill up a heron but it made for some good photo posibilities. I was able to get a bit above and fairly close, I wanted to see the fish being swallowed. The angle may be a bit high but that is what was needed. He caught a few fish while I was in position but always turned his head at the wrong moment. I did get one good set though.
Thanks for looking,
Tim
1 getting it lined up for the toss

Great approach and excellent shots Tim! Now all you have to do is wait for a 2 pounder to come along...that would be a great angle fo shoot that sequence from!
Cool 'three step' shots. First one is stunning, a great comp, great light and exposure. No doubt about it, down the hatch it goes, great planning for the sequence

Tim...all great shots. The 3rd is a real gem. Are you using any type of fill flash on these?
Thanks Matt, nope no flash, just natural light.

Nice series Tim, maybe he figured with that big old lens you had on hand, that little fish was all that would fit in the frame
Yup that must have been it, I should have titled this "heron takes on tuna". Really it wouldn't surprise me. Thanks Chad.

Very cool! Someday I will be patient enough to hopefully capture something like this.

Thanks J, I'm not always that patient but it usually pays off usually we just aren't willing to wait!
