hmmm every time I try to photograph the small birds they fly off before I can get a shot off or they go deep into brush and behind branches...... What's the secret I'm missing here?
Super job Laura (As usual)
Anthony
thanks Tony. Out of about 100 Verdin shots I had 3 keepers. This is hard work !(but somebody has to do it )

Beatutiful birds and superb compositions, very sharp too! These are artistic.
I'd love to see your EXIF data. Are you using a fill flash and the better beamer on these.
thanks Mohammed. I didn't use flash on any of these. I try to shoot close to 180 degree angle from the sun to get front lit subjects if possible. Using flash would help tho for the shadows. I wish the feet of the Verdin and Flycatcher weren't dark but can't see a work-around for that situation, even with flash. I only shoot early and late at ISO 320 or less and AV priority f8 or f9 unless the scene demands adjustments.
Laura, these are super (as I have come to expect from you). The first and last shots have the added bonus of a lot of nice contrasting colors from the flowers, so I like those the best.
You're one of the posters on the wildlife forum that, when I see your name next to a thread I'll always have a look cos I know they're gonna be good pics.
Laura, these are wonderful. The first shot is the winner for me, but I sure like the cactus wren too. Very pleasing to view, very nice and natural appearing, liked 'em

Really wonderful captures Laura! Why does your exif info not show? BP
appreciate your nice comment! I use the Save for Web command when saving my files instead of Save As and for some reason the EXIF doesn't show up to view.
