oh yes, saw first 2 green heron of spring this morning.
Was breezy, cool and when sun got up it was very bright...see the harsh shadows?

all ISO 400, 400mm w/1.4x TC, and yes from my van window of course

Ahh, this is a wonderful series, and love the commentary Dave

#5, that sexy windblown look

You did good with the full sequence, seems Mr Whitmore kindly pointed out I missed the plunge on mine, I am sure he won't find fault here. Looks like a strong bloom of duckweed too, great work on the exposures and wonderful color on your Green Heron. Just excellent Dave!

Excellent Dave. I was trying hard to critique these pictures and I cannot come up with any negatives. #4,5 7 and 8 are especially striking.

Dave, These are great. What an interesting, beautiful bird. Excellent captures. No excuses for staying indoors now!

Spring is a special time of year, isn't it? I'm making the best of autumn down here. But then the winter where I live is not as severe as some of the winter shots I've seen from Nth America/Canada and similar!

PS. nice job from the blind, did you put down your popcorn and turn off the movie before you took these.

Very nice series! I admire anyway who is patient enough to wait for the "fish in the mouth moment." Unfortunately I am to impatient to get a great shot like that.

It amazes me how can they see a fish through all that green cr*p floating around

I was just about to turn off the computer when I saw your name here..... so I knew I had to look....

I'm in love..... with shot # 1 - - that one would graze my desktop of my computer for a very long time. The whole series is wonderful....... but # 1 has my heart.

Charles, yes spring is special. Even here in moderate climate here I have waited and waited for spring.

Chad, I use a window mount, but may try a bean bag some day too
