The storm's structure was amazing. On the raw shots, yes I did shoot digital images too, and 35 mm film, and HD video! The images posted were shot in 6X7 cm format using Fuji Velvia.
The time-lapse video is pretty interesting and shows that the storm was spinning like a top!
I posted a couple of images this morning on a different subject at:
Superb images, Sam. The second one is frightening in it's intensity, and the pair together make an extraordinary scene. I would probably have run a mile the other way!
Amazing display of weather! Is this, by any chance, drum scanned? In the high contrast version chakalakasp posted, it looks as though there are newton rings in the top center of the merge.
Mark, I used a Nikon 8000 scanner with a glass film holder. I missed these Newton rings, which can be a problem with glass holders. It's the price you pay for ensuring that the entire slide is in focus.
Woody, I can't drive too fast in reverse, but I can turn-around pretty quickly, and then get away pretty fast!
Skyscape Photography at its best, kudos to you Sam for having the fortitude to stand there in the middle of the road facing down Natures fury with a camera.
