Peter,
Interesting shot.
Since the ladybug is the "simple" thing in the shot, I'd suggest using Selective Color here: converting it all to B&W, but leaving the red ladybug as the only thing in color. The red would help to draw the eye and compete with the 2 huge eyes in the pic.
Good luck this week!

Very creative shot, Peter, my friend! Wonderfully executed! I never would have thought of that! Since you frequently put yourself into your own shots, I'm beginning to wonder if Fibble has gotten you to take some of his "Rubbish Pills" Be careful of those things or the Llamas might get you.

I tried it before i posted and didn't care for the results.....perhaps I'll get more time to fool around with the image tomorrow........actually I;m not thrilled with this shot either, I know it's not a 'pretty' image. I've been busy and also stumped on this WA
Thanks for the idea!
Peter

HELP me Endre....the rubbish are turning me into a bird like creature. I ate the ladybug
Hi Peter,
Let me guess, you've been busy with eye doctor appointments . This is a funny shot, it made me chuckle. The lighting is great, it's nice and sharp, and seeing a lady bug means spring is finally here.

Peter,
Not trying to "bug" you! ...But one more idea:
What if you made the bg B&W, but also blurred it a bit - to add more depth, and bring more focus to the ladybug.
Just thinking...
Regards!

That absolutely works Carroll ! I like your result, it's well processed and i appreciate the 'lesson'........of course i can't use your version because it's not mine, but nonetheless THAT'S why we're doing this forum......to learn and gather ideas. I tend to grow weary of the 'one color item in a B&W image' idea, but i think you've shown that it works well in this case (and decreases the gaudy aspects of my face close-up).
It's a little late but I just have one suggestion...you might want to cut your morning coffee with just a little water. I know your a good photographer, but trying to control your subject with mind rays is a little far out if you ask me! Great job, and congrats on making the finals...
