p.1 #1 · Best photography homepage/website?

Sorry if this has been up before, did a search but didn't find anything.

I'm looking for inspiration for my (first) photography web page. I've been Google'ing and had a look around but was wondering if any of you have any favourite homepages and/or galleries?
I'm planning on something rather simple; i.e. not a lot of text, just some galleries that are well set-up.

Thanks in advance,
Jan

I've just started using Zenfolio the last few months and that has proven pretty smooth. Check out my pages if you like for some ideas: http://www.timaustinimages.com/p1072951496/?photo=h378142D4#909251577

It is a frequent question, I'm surprised the search didn't turn up anything. Anyway, I am happy with SmugMug (they offer kickback coupons, if you're interested PM).

Thanks for the replies, appreciate it.

Potato1: Thanks for the link, looks nice and simple!

Claudermilk: Thanks for the suggestion but I'm not crazy about the smugmug/flickr kinda thing where people can leave comments, etc.

I am in the midst of setting up my site, I have an inexpensive host www.micfo.com , had some issues at first with upload interruptions but now all seems stable. I've also played around with several different looks. I'm settling down to what you see now, except for the Alcatraz gallery is still the old style slide show. The other ones that are working are using Simpleviewer Flash gallery. I use the Photoshop script The galleries that are not linked yet are just not finished yet. Check it out, it's simple and Direct to the point of photography

I'll second Smugmug I've had my site with them for probably 6 months now and everything has been great. I'm about 99% sure that you can choose not to allow people to comment if thats the only thing turning you away.

Yeah, Smugmug does allow you to disable comments if you so desire.

Thanks again for the suggestions. Today I came across http://www.kennyviese.com/main.php. It's pretty much exactly what I'd like my page to look like

Cheers,
Jan

Beat me to it. SM is highly customizable & allows you to use or not use most all the features.

For the galleries on my site I use something called "simpleviewer". It creates the gallery for you using java. I have zero knowledge about java so this is not hard at all. As for my main page I typed up a few lines using the most basic html and just put links to the pre-made galleries.

You can download simpleviewer here: http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/

You can see how I used it on my site here: http://www.scotophoto.com
