p.1 #1 · #288: More Weight, More Muscle

This a replacement to the original color picture.
I hope this one will do a better job displaying the shaping effect of weight lifting reps on the model’s arm…

Looks good man. Keeping in shape. Nice definition of the arm muscles. As a Professional Massage Therapist, I can appreciate the attention to detail in the muscles. Nice shot as well.

Nice lighting, and good gritty look for the strong arm.
I think I prefer the original color post, though. I liked the expression on the face of the exertion of strength/effort.
If you prefer this closer crop, you may want to re-shoot using another light to give some definition to the back sides of those weights.
Good entry!

Very nice! I didn't see the first one but it took me a few moments to figure out where the body was in relation to the arm. (A little highlight on his shoulder on the shirt would help define it even more). Great execution.

Like the new version much better. The simplicity of the weight's effect on the arm fits the theme perfectly. Great conversion.

Great entry,
Chad

Thank you, Steve. I think this is the first time that I've attempted to photograph “muscles”; the lighting was the most difficult part because I needed some slow exposure to capture the movement of the hand and dumbbell…

Carrol, I was also originally inclined to keep the first one, but thought that the face expression would be taking the viewers attention away from the ‘muscle’; the immediate ‘effect’ of the exercise…Unfortunately, I can’t re-shoot and since I used a black background with very low lighting, I don’t have much to work with to improve the definition of the back of the weights. Very good observation, thank you…

Hello Beverly, I replaced the picture after some minor corrections following your suggestions. I never realized with my home monitor that the black t-shirt was invisible with others (until I looked at it with my office computer and found exactly what you described, an arm without a body). Thank you!
