I think what the photo means is 30 pieces of silver Judus got for betraying Jesus and the (thing) respectfully in the background, is the Cross Jesus was crucified on. Unless my Bible is wrong. Oh and if my spelling is wrong (excuse me
Beautiful and moving shot. Absolutely fantastic. Yakim, I can see how it would look like an X, but the angle to me seems to be the angle of one carrying the cross, thus on the way to crucifixion not in the process of being crucified. Great shot Jason and good luck this week.
Hi Jason, This is a superb shot i love everything about it. The b and w really suits it.
Love the DOF and the texture of the skin and canvas bag really make this work for me.
Far be it for me to say but anyone who is only seeing a x in the bgd needs to get there monitor checked out as on mine i can tell its the binding that holds the two parts of the cross together.

Now that Mark has made it clear about the binding I don't know why I didn't see it earlier. I think it may have been glare on my laptop monitor that prevented me from seeing it more clearly. In any event, I still think this is a great image and B + W conversion. I like it a lot.

P.S. Nothing wrong with your spelling Norm, I'm a terrible speller. Firefox, however, has a built in spell checker. An excellent time saver, for me.

Thanks Steve, this one is still a work in progress. I'm hoping I'll have time to swap out the background Cross for one with better clarity, thanks for your input.
The conversion was done with a channel's adjustment layer (-20, +22, +114, for the hand, plus a slight tweak on the Cross at +100, 0, 0.), With several curves layers above and below it for local and global brightness/contrast adjustments and a custom vignette, slight warming tone as well. Finished up with some dodge and burn on a flattened version.

Thank you Mark, apreciate it.
I know a lot of members can't afford, or haven't yet obtained monitor calibrators, so it's always something one needs to keep in mind when posting an image that others will see it differently. In this case I forgot that the cross in the background would be unintelligible for some. I will swap it for something a little easier to see.
