We haven't had one of these for a long time! And with so many new people here I thought it would be great if we all show ourselves and tell us a bit about ourselves.
Anyone up for it?

I will have to start I guess...
I am a veterinary surgeon, from Germany, have lived in the UK for 11 years. My better half Ian, BubbaMackay, is an air traffic controller. Between us, we have about another 10 jobs - book translator, aircraft mechanic etc so we are very busy people. And mad about photography.
Over to you guys. Ute
I am a software engineer, born in Bohemia, grown up in Switzerland, and now in the US. Photography is my main passion, and in my career I have worked on many projects uniting software with photography, without naming any names I got into photography as a young teenager simply because I could not stand the way my dad used to "document" our family vacations. Access to a darkroom (incl. color) in college only reinforced this passion.
I always traveled with my parents a lot, and all the way with my wife before the kids were born. Nature photography takes me places, I always used to say, and my photographs allow me to help me remember places the way I saw them, not someone else. To me, it doesn't take away from the experience but rather makes it stronger.
I am also a high performance driving instructor, which is also a lot of fun, and makes up for sitting for hours by the geyser waiting for it to go off. Lately I'm trapped at home thanks to the kids - we recently added one more so this picture isn't quite up to date. Hopefully, soon we'll all go places together, just like when I was young. The older one is already getting a crash course in photography http://kids.jirman.com/2007/2007-11-17/0017-b.jpg http://kids.jirman.com/2008-02-02/0013-b.jpg
My mission in life is to raise mass consciousness and I use this life to help people blossom open their hearts, remind people that we are all one, and guide people towards enlightenment. Ego transcendence is my specialty. Landscape and nature photography has long been one of my passions and my soul is deeply fulfilled when out playing in nature and connecting with its essence. It is my pleasure traveling the world alongside each and every one of you here on FM.
Now I'll pass the mic over to hugh.

I'm recently retired from Motorola - just in time apparently . My interest in photography has become deeper, but less hard edged, if that makes sense. For a bit more insight into my mental processes you are welcome to visit www.hughstockton.com, particularly the Poetry pages.
I am a software engineer, living in London UK.
Photography is my passion, love it, my dad was into photography during the film days, i enjoyed his work, and especially in the dark room with the chemicals developing the film
Learning the amazing art of photography day by day
Here i am on my recent trip to Norway.
Nice idea Ute and good for you for stepping up to the plate. As I get older, I normally stand farther away from the camera, so this is as good as it will get. This is likely my favorite spot in the world.
I'm on the far right next to my understanding and patient wife Eileen and some of her English family that we drag all over the UK when we get the chance. I own a small publishing company in South Florida and free-lance when I can. This forum becomes extended family for many of us. Thanks for all of your comments and critiques.
Oh no, she really did it!!! I was wondering if this would happen after those comments on John's post.
But I guess I will play along as well. For my real job, I work for a large chemical company, BASF. I am in an account management role with them. I currently live in Atlanta in the US, though I'm originally from up north in Ohio. Photography for me started as a way to try to show others the beauty of the places I've traveled to, but now it's probably bloomed into a full-fledged obsession. Well, maybe not quite so much, but close.
So, without further adieu, here I am. And since Ute's in the UK, this is a shot of me in the UK.
Ah ha. I thought we were all supposed to remain anonymous...like the internet is made for :-P. I actually just posted a picture of me in a redwood...but this one is fun as well...and preshave (my facial hair changes like the seasons). As for the info...I am the GM of a restaurant on the north shore of Kauai and am pursuing a career in photography (albeit slowly...but have 2 gallery showings starting in June!) ttfn

I am a Desktop support tech for a large school district, however my main passion is photography. I live in Northern Wi, near the north shore of Lake Superior which is where I spend most of my time shooting.
bu bubut we all wanted to stay anonymous...
OK, here's a picture of me, taken by my 5 year old son, last year in sunny Dartmoor.
I live in the Netherlands and don't find enough time to go out to play with my camera.

Todd, great picture! But it can't be in the UK, there is no RAIN!!
Thanks Ute. Yeah, that was sort of a sticking point with us. An English friend of ours said Scotland would be cold, windy and rainy. It turned out to be sunny, calm and HOT!!! We packed our rain gear and then gave him hell for it the three rounds of the Open we saw him at!
Graphic designer/ Illustrator/ wanna-be photographer/ river guide. Between the three(river guide doesn't count) I make enough to keep the cats in kibble.
Luckily, my wife is the responsible one.
Here's another example of why I'm a landscape shooter.
My day-gig title is VP of Systems Engineering. The firm that I'm with supplies California state government with high-end unix systems. While this is what I look like most of the time I'd much rather be out in a meadow, somewhere, standing behind a tripod.
