The colors are great in this one. I would crop above the oof foreground rocks. They don't add anything and break up the flow of different horizontal bands.

Nice colors Hugh, especially with that flamboyant frame...

Perfect to my eyes Hugh. No nits with the fg rocks. Minor though they are, they lead the eye around the curve out onto the jetty.

Awesome colours - I wish we would get some of that! All grey here.
I would also lose the OOF rock and shift the emphasis to the subtle tones of the jetty rocks and the great sky.

Hello David,

Thanks for commenting. This made a fine print on presentation matte paper. The smooth, warm colors came out very nicely. Glad you enjoyed this version too.

Hi Hugh,

There may not be blue but what you have is nothing short of spectacular. I can only imagine the beauty of the print. Beautiful work indeed.

Hugh, you feeling OK??
Didn't know your camera could see in yellows and reds!

Absolutely gorgeous image!! Really like the layers of wonderful color. The reflective glow on the water is terrific!

Hello Paul,

Thanks for the compliments and suggestion. The morning started out 'Early Blue' then passed through several phases of differing warmth. Glad you mostly enjoyed this phase.

Very interesting composition, Hugh. I find that the very front rocks guide me round a curve onto the main body of rocks (which do have a hint of blue ) The fact that they are not in sharp focus helps in this, as the eye passes along them to the left hand side without being distracted. I think this would not work nearly so well if they were fully sharp. I like the oranges/yellows in the colour scheme, the way the artificial light blends with them and the way the light's vertical is echoed, deeper in the picture, by the sign. A very interesting composition.

Hello Zeph,

Thanks for commenting. I try to use the eFrames to manage relative color effects and create depth. Glad this one worked for you. It also provides more flexibility when framing since it allows one to use matte colors not available to framing services.

Hello Tim,

Thanks for commenting and for the 'vote' in favor . That's how I felt too but I can understand the other perspective. I sometimes take issue with intrusive or overly emphatic foregrounds. In any event, glad you enjoyed this one too.

Hello Peter,

Thanks for commenting and for the compliments. The print with a heavy wood frame about the color of the matte and using museum glass is very nice - expensive, but nice . Glad you enjoyed this version.

Hello Barry,

Thanks for commenting. It took a special filter, but I managed to make it work . It was a morning to thrill a photographer. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hello Martin,

Thanks for the detailed comment. In retrospect, slightly wider to make the jetty curve more obvious could have increased the justification for the foreground rocks, but I felt, as you say, that they served their purpose. The idea was what I call a 'landscape macro', using a longer lens to zoom into a smaller area of the scene that has special interest. In this case, the fine, warm glow in the sky. The 'sign' is a channel marker buoy showing the entrance into the cruise ship basin. I shot several different views of this scene, taking advantage of the warmer colors. Glad the image works for you. Others will probably follow .

Hello Hugh,

Well no blues...but gorgeous colours just the same. The foreground rocks are a matter of taste of course. Perhaps you could try cloning out the dominant centered fg rock only? That way you would still have the curve effect either way its a stellar print.
