p.1 #1 · 40D firing problems...help (FIXED)

Today i took my 40d with me to the zoo to take some shots all was fine in the beginning until I made the mistake to walk in to a tropical house with it. Midway through the house i could feel moisture building up very badly on the camera so i went outside, unfortunately the outside temperature was 2C which did not seem to help either.

After the camera dried off I walked over to the Tiger area and began to take shots, within my first shot i got an ERR 99 message informing me to turn off the camera. I turned off the camera and reloaded the batteries and after a few moments I got the message again then I would get off a couple of more shots again and then the camera would report errors, then of nowehere the errors stopped and I was able to shoot for a good 40 minutes before encountering more errors and now I am afraid to even use it.

Should I run some more tests with other lens combos or should i send it to Canon straight away, or is this something I could possibly fix on my own?

I was using a 1.4x tc and 300mm lens on the camera the whole time.

I'd send it to Canon right away. Messing with it yourself will void the warranty and any chance you have of getting it fixed correctly.

This will sound odd...

Leave it alone for a few days and see if it dries out; you may want to leave all
doors/compartments open maximizing the airflow within the camera.

If that doesn't change the behavior, then yes you should send it for repair

Not odd at all. I decided to do that the very night it happened and the next day the camera was error free and still continues to be error free. *knock wood*
