I will give them a try just got my D300 4 days ago and after reading the bible of manual that comes with it, I will experiment with your curves, thank you.
Now to learn how to use this nikon (used to shoot canon).
The camera doesn't see the files, I did everything up to step 8 I don't see the files, everything else I did, I even took the memory card out to verify the files and they are there under the custompc folder created by the camera itselft when I saved the file. please help
As an added bonus, this thread helped me to figure out how to load in the Optima, Astia and Velvia modes that wouldn't load in last month. (i had to rename the extensions from .dms to .NCP)
Now i Have 11 profiles loaded in - surely something for every situation. Now give me a colorful garden to try all of these new modes out!
Wow this thread is still running. That's wicked, since i use another setting already.
The settings posted here are cool, but i had some trouble with skintones on my weddingshoots.
OH NO PANIC...
nah... What do i use now? simple:
Neutral with the following adjustments:
Brightness -1
Contrast +1
Saturation +1
Sharpening +4
Hue -1
That last hue thing helps with skintones. But it all depends on the lighting. With a Hue setting @ -1 you might get to much red, a channel which is clipping pretty fast so be carefull with that. It's good to have other options at hand. The contrast is set @ +1 but will be overruled by active D-lighting, so if you are going to use that, you shouldn't have to bother with brightness or contrast. To be honest i never use my original settings anymore in camera. I shoot RAW and this neutral adjustment setting give me a good base to start with in Capture NX (2). When i don't like the image i try to convert to my older settings (from my original post) sometimes it's just a tad different, just enough to make it right. So i still have my custom curves, but i only apply them in capture NX.
