All the above are JPEG straight out of the camera. No PP whatsoever. At that time, I know nothing about PP. That is not implying that I know a lot today but I do know a bit more....
BTW, that 3200 emergency shot was with 17-40/4, 17mm, f/4, 1/8, -0.5 EC, handheld. It was either that or nothing at all (I have a monopod but it mostly stay at home). I preferred to have something. It was a family trip and I wanted that memory.
Why don't you try one out before purchasing...it's still an amazing camera.
Yes...it doesn't have great battery life and high ISO noise can be a problem if not properly exposed...but the AF and overall responsiveness are so much better than any of Canon's current consumer line of cameras.

is it still worth buying ?pretty cheap these days...
any coments?
If it is able to do when you need, why not.
It is not about who has the latest gears, it is about who makes the best images.
Camera is just a gear that helps you craft your art, if it fits your needs, go for it

List all your needs here, and we should help you solve your problem
I had used the 1D for more than two years with no problems. If you are concerned about the megapixels, I and many others have had images published in two-page spread magazines and highway billboards from the 1D. The reasons I upgraded are for better signal-to-noise ratio and AF focus speed. No comments on the current 1DMKIII though till Canon issues a "real fix" I am hoping before the big game in Beijing, but I can hear the 1D MKIII N calling my name already

I still have mine. Have had in sitting in the box where packed it up for the past 4 years! I now use a Mark II and a 40D. Just never got around to doing anything with it. But I remember how pleased everyone was with the pictures I took at the time. LOTS of soccer pics which is 98% of what I used it for. Maybe I haven't wanted to part with the tool that produced so many pleasing memories for so many people.
It was/is fast. And though it was only 4.1MP (my how rapidly our perception of what we need changes) I found the image quality as good as my the 6MP cameras I had at the time if not better. Of course I am just an amateur (soccer parent) and no an expert. But I loved the camera.
But I guess it is time to let the sentimentality go and put this thing up on Craig's list. Someone out there. Maybe a photography student who doesn't have the money for the latest cameras would be able to put this to good use. Rather than just letting it take up space in my closet.
