p.1 #1 · Rates for product photography**Urgent**

I will probably be doing some product photography this month for a magazine, but I know what the rate is for the entire product. A friend of mine called me about 1/2 hour ago and said he got a call from a large business that needs his help with some product photography. He said he thinks the guy wants product shots of his bottles (not exactly sure) so I doubt we would have to do alot of lifting and stuff like that. My friend says it would take about 2 days for us to do it. He called me because I have a laptop and know how to shoot tethered plus I have the necessary lighting equipment. I have no idea what to charge?!?!?! I know what I am doing for sure, I just don't know what to base the rate on? Can someone give me an idea what to charge or at least how to charge? Thanks.

Is it for a web catalog or some other type of web usage?

Do you own Fotoquote?

I'm sorry, I don't know where my brain is...what type of usage is this for? Brochures, Catalogs, advertisements?

The website thoughts were from another conversation I was having today.

You say it is for a magazine, then you say it is a "large business"
Is the magazine the large business?
Or is it for a "large business" who is going to advertise in a magazine? Whether it is for an article in the magazine, or for advertising will make a difference in pricing.

Sorry guys. I will be doing product shots for a magazine this month but that is separate. They pay a flat rate so there is no negotiating the price. The product shots I was referring to are going to be for a printed catalog. The product is actually different size jugs, like 1-gallon, 5-gallon, etc...I don't have all the particulars as my friend is attempting to get more info. He is not very good at getting information unfortunately.

Usage will define your final rates. Nail that down and charge appropriately. FOtoquote is your friend here.

fotoquote...if you take money for work you should own this. Typically it pays for itself in one job.
