I am hoping to get some input on project that I am working on. I have been asked to shoot some custom choppers like the one below and add this "artistic" style. I believe they want these to be matted/framed and sold at their shop.
What I need is a suggested price for the digital image or prints with the "artistic" style and they also was a price for "catalog" style images for their dealers.
FYI......This was just a quick snap shot......I am scheduled to do a "shoot" with the bike in a week or so.

Here is a link to other photos from this same day http://www.socalinmotion.com/rod I took these in the morning and had them printed with my contact info on the top/bottom. Then I returned and gave the owners the photos to stir up some custom shoots.
I'm assuming that it is the bike shop...not a bike mag or something like that.
so.....
How long do they want to allow you to shoot? (my hourly is 125....but I negotiate)
What will the usage be for the product?
What is the cost that you are paying to conduct business i.e. prints, etc.?
Have you talked any budget numbers with them?
Do you know exactly what product they want?
Are you trading any services?
Can I please ride one of those bikes?
Those are all questions I would be asking before I tried to determine the invoice.
First thing, after determining what they want, is to determine exactly what it costs you to produce it. Obviously you don't want to be paying to take their pictures. Be careful to include all your costs, including gasoline going to and fro, a portion of the ink cartridge cost if you're doing the printing, et cetera.
Then decide how much you want for the time you spend. You could have been spending time with your kids or your main squeeze, but you spent it taking pictures for someone else. How much money do you want in compensation for that lost time from your beloved? If you were flipping hamburgers or stocking shelves or doing something else onerous, what's the minimum you would accept?
Then think about what you need money for in the future to keep taking pictures. You're going to have to replace that camera or lens one day, and it's a good idea to collect a little bit from every job to bank toward that new equipment.
