i loved shooting slide film. velvia...<sigh> but now i *really* love shooting raw. if you don't shoot raw, start now. i'm serious. someone even said these very words to me a full year before i switched. and now it pains me to think of all the images i have, only in jpg format. i'm surprised that with all the learning i did around the making of photographic images, i never really got it, in terms of understanding how much information i was throwing away by shooting in jpg. A LOT. about 2/3's. if you don't know this, it's very important stuff. as of last year, i shoot raw and process in lightroom. and i love it. thank you adobe
this image is an example of what can be done with a raw file. if i blew it up, it would require some cleaning up around the edges where i've "slammed it" by pulling out shadow detail next to bright highlights.
