p.1 #2 · Where do you guys get your shots printed?
Beat Hotel,
I do alot of my own printing at home. When I send to a lab, I have been happily been using MPIX for the past few years. Their customer service is unbelievably good. It really depends on how picky you are about your color.

Epson R1800 printer, Epson ink, Epson quality 5 star paper, Monico Easy Color calibration software, Lacie electronblue monitor and a daylight balanced light source (OTT-LITE) to critically check your results.
You may be happy with an outside labs work, but there is no replacing the control that you get when you print you own...

I know I need to go outside for very large prints.
Anything under 13 x 19 I print myself. I'm darn picky about quality & colour. I use both an Epson 2000 & CX4800. The 2000 is used for images that are mounted and framed. The 4800 is used for cards that are sold and for test prints. Both printers use
pigmented inks.
I have charts, through experimentation, that describe what each ink & which paper produce what. I have experimented with dozens of papers. I know what each will produce. I like this control.
When I print one of my images I know it is the best that I know how to do now. A print does not leave here unless it is as perfect as I can make it.
Yes. It cuts into my time out and about with a camera. It also results in more sales. People, not a lot, do recognize a quality photograph.
Experiment. Discouver what makes your images unique. Go for it.
