Very impressive.

Are you using the 580 in manual mode? If so you can get an additional flash for very cheap for things such as the rim lighting. Heck, a 285HV will do the trick for a lot less than an additional 580.

Peace,
Cordell

We are, yes. We have a couple of cheapies... I just need to get another set of PW's. There's so much we want!! I've just got to prioritize. *sigh*

These are great shots. I just don’t know how you guys do it. These shots are different from your style. I guess it is the off camera stuff that is throwing me off. It shows you can do it all. Each time I visit your website I’m always blown away by the quality of your pictures. They are so clean. Do you use whiBal or something like that for white balancing?

Thanks.

Wow... that is VERY kind of you. Most of the time I feel really behind in our learning curve. There's so much I want to know, but not enough time to devote to figuring it out!

I use Lightroom for my processing. So white balance is just tweaked until I like what I see.

The whole series is really nice, but that street light is great. Hopefully your clients will appreciate this series as much as we do.

From what I've heard... digital grain is typically always less noisey than film grain at the same ISO's. So, with that said, the grain adds an artlike feel to the shots.

It's art... it's subjective, they're beautiful.

Thanks guys.... really.

I used our 580 as an off camera. My husband is holding that off to the side. I believe the first few still had the small soft box attached to it. But the last ones are bare flash with a little bounce from our hand.

How are you triggering the 580? I assume you're using a radio like a PW instead of the STE2. I'm looking at the best option for using my 580s off camera. I'm pretty sure I know of all the options for modifying a 580ex for off camera use with radios (as opposed to using the STE2). I'm curious which option you went with for these shots.

There are ways to trigger the flash - the easiest is with a 580 on-camera set to NOT participate in the exposure.

In many ways this is the manner that renders the greatest level of Control.

You used your 30 minutes very well. I like #8 the most. 1 and 2 also.
