p.1 #1 · Issues with rnning filters

My computer is taking, what seems to be, a long time processing filters. Specifically liquify is the worst. When using liquify I cannot just go at it like I would like to, I have to make a minor change, wait a few seconds, and watch it process, and then continue on until I have finished. When it open back in to the normal photoshop window, that is another few seconds by itself. I am processing Nikon d200 images, with a new AL iMac- 2.4 ghz core 2 duo, 3 Gb of ram. Photoshop CS3. I have tried adjusting my cashe, but that has no effect, and have also tried allocating more ram to photoshop, but that seems to make little if any difference at all (currently at 70%). If anyone has any other idea's for me to try, it would be greatly appreciated.

Since you don't mention a second harddrive, I am assuming you have only one. PS tends to run much faster if you have the scratch disk set up on a non-system harddrive. Of course, this would require a second drive.

Hey. I have a "myBook 300 GB hard drive as a back-up drive, but I cannot seem to get it to come up as a scratch disc. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that it connects with u.s.b.?
