Peter,

Not knowing anything about ducks, I have to ask if the sheen on the head is natural (which I suppose is the case) or an artifact of pp'ing?

Assuming it's natural, I really enjoy the image. I like the low angle which helps set it apart from most duck images.

Yes, that is the natural sheen on the duck's head. I was looking for a different angle and based upon your comment, have found one.

I like that you have his eyes and the blurred background is good too. The perspective is good as well.

However, the sheen makes it look like you have his body focussed but his head not focused with the tight depth.

I think you need a bit more depth for this picture to work.

The single duck is better because the second one was distracting. However, the very bright water surface might be better toned down a little. It looks like this image was overexposed or given too much contrast either in capture or in processing.

Which lens did you use, and what shooting settings ?
