State Farm gear replacement policy, a standard studio building insurance policy, and Errors & Omissions for 1 million in liability. I've been a State Farm client for many years for home and now business and wouldn't consider using any other company.

E - just make sure you don't travel outside continental U.S.... That is what forced me away from State Farm business.

I stopped insuring in 2000 except for the front window of my studio & public liability. I was paying about 3K PA to insure all my gear. In 2000 I had a camera bag stolen which cotained my Hasselblad kit. ($29,134) My generous insurance company (CHUBB) refused to pay me as I could not prove signs of forced entry. I lost the lot.
It is now eight years & at 3K a year I have nearly recouped my loss.
Given that I have a lot of gear I may reinsure in the next couple of years.

State Farm is great until you file a big claim. Then they're worse than worthless. I had to make a claim once and they had an investigator come to my house, interview me on tape, and eventually he was *going thru my closet*. Wtf

Check out Hill and Usher. They'll treat you like a human being when you actually need them to.

Tom C. Pickard & Co using Firemans Fund has a reasonable price.
Hill and Usher is the well known and PPA referred.
RVNucio offers liability thru Firemans Fund at a very low cost.
Travelers thru an association: www.thevana.com/insurance.html
Have never made a claim so really can just give them for price comparison but if you
are able to spend several hundred Hill and Usher is the "Name" brand.

Any experience with either of them or have you not had to use them?

That's a serious loss and a serious amount of dough for insurance as well.

I switched from State Farm to Tom Pickard.

My agent was straight up and told me they would not insure outside the U.S. for my type of business. Glad they told me.

I had allstate and filed a claim. they denied me giving me every excuse in the book and in the end told me that almost every case except mine would be covered. Mine was flooded in the trunk of a car. If the car drove over it ... they said they would pay or if inside the house and got flooded ... but somehow not in my case.

I have a suspicion, that the next guy gets a different version of the alstate BS depending on what happened to him. Not worth a darn, that company.

I've got my policy from USAA underwritten by The Hartford.

Never had to make a business claim, but had one auto claim and one renter's claim, and the way USAA handled these made me a lifelong customer.

Unfortunately, USAA is only available to current or former military.... but they REALLY take care of their customers.

I attempted to start a thread on its own but haven't gotten an answer. Does anybody have the PPA insurance? What is actually included in the price of the PPA membership?

I read somewhere that PPA insurance is for malpractice coverage, which I understand as something like missing shots due to equipment failure.

It's separate from equipment and liability insurance.
