Thanks Jim. Looks like I may need to rethink the hover view. The interesting thing is that I've asked several actors and models what they thought and they all liked the hover view. And they're my normal clients, so... hmmm... What to do...

I have to disagree about the acting link... I would want my photographer to be a photographer. It's one thing to mention that you're an actor but unless you're using the site to promote your acting then I wouldn't put much more than a mention like you did. Think about it from the other side. If you were a casting director and were looking at an actor's website, would you want all the info about them being a photographer? Unless the role is for a photog then it's just a distraction.

xSoto, I have the link to the acting page on my main page not to advertise it, but because acting stuff used to be on the main page, and I need people who come to the site looking for the acting stuff like my reel and resume to be able to find it. It's in the footer with the copyright info to minimize it.

I think that's a good compromise though honestly I think that you should also have a website that solely features your acting. For example...Viacom owns MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon they are separate and distinct channels because they're ultimately for different audiences.

I work in film production so my main site is going to be just about that. Since I'm planning on spending a lot of effort on my photography this year I've just purchased a domain that will be for that side of my career. In addition some of my tastes run on the darker/edgier side so to keep from completely alienating potential clients I've got another site I'm working on that will feature that stuff. Each site fills a niche and while they aren't necessarily mutually exclusive they also don't really belong on the same site. I know it's going to be a lot of work to get everything up but I also know that my intended audience(s) will find what they're looking for at each one.

One last thing ... the hover feature on your site -- I think the reason people had mixed feelings about it is because while it definitely works, it doesn't work 100% how one might expect. I know when I run my cursor over the pictures it skips some because a "on hover" picture is covering the thumbnail underneath so the script isn't triggering all the "on hover" tags. It's like looking through a book and not being able to see all the pages. I think if you find a way to make sure we can see ALL the images that we hover over you'd get a much better response overall about the feature.

Wow, I'm opinionated today. Anywho, take what you want, throw the rest out.
