The platform was meant to sit on the head base of a tripod. I attached an old Gitzo tripod platform to a 5/8 stud and used it that way for a while until someone told me there was a base with 3/8 or 1/4/ 20 female fitting. It is the silver thing you see under the projector platform. Unfortunately I can't recall what the Manfrotto number is or even what it is called. I'lll try to take a closer picture of it when I get back to the studio (whenever that will be ).
