This is from my cruise last year, a musical performance. I like it but there is just something about it that I think could be a little better but I can't put my finger on it.
I like the first one better, the crop version takes the subject out of contest. However, on the first one, that "thing" on the right side really distracts from the main subject. If it were possible to get rid of it, I think it would really clean up the picture. The only other thing I can think of is if the stars and rest of the background could be somewhat subdued, that would make the subject pop some more.
Just had a thought, if you can't clean up the "thing" on the right, what if you tried cropping the whole right side, and just leave the background singer on the right?
I agree with Jo. I think I would crop it to just include the left side. Try cropping to put the singer on the right hand side of the picture and not so centered.
I would also tone the background stars and singers down.
