I am currently looking at monitors for my job to do color correction on large amounts of aerial photography. I would be going for something like the NEC 2690WUXi or Eizo SX2461W but I have a budget of less than $1000 (my boss would like it to be as low as possible). So I after a lot of research(including the search function here) I am looking at either the Apple 23 inch Cinema Display or an Eizo S2231W. The Eizo is about $100 cheaper but not readily available anywhere online that can ship fast, all special order. I do have need of one by next week.
Are there any other models I should be looking at or ? I thought about the Samsung 245t but I had read something about it not doing well with Macs because the included software doesn't work on OS X. I will be getting a calibration kit like the Spyder3Elite. Also, I am thinking Color Gamut isn't a huge deal as I am dealing entirely with imagery that will be viewed exclusively on computers so I think something that has good sRGB coverage would be good enough.
I know you said your budget was less than $1000. Someone posted this below on another thread. The first price is for the 2490. I recently got the 2690wuxi because I couldn't justify the Eizo price and am just in love with it.
You can get it at Provantage.com for $975.21. The 2690 is $1098.95. These are the best prices I see.
After talking with my boss and finding a store that had the Eizo S2231W we went with that as it was $778 before tax and has the 5 year warranty. He's a bit on the cheap side, it was hard to get him to agree to something over $600 until I showed him some of the differences.
The 245T works great on a Mac, I'm using one right now. There's no reason to bother with included software. Mine's calibrated with a I1 Proof system. It's a bargain at around $700.
