p.1 #1 · Processing 120 Film

I have gone digital totally,
But I long to use my Hassy again which I have had in the closet now for about 9 yrs and have not a clue now where to buy as well as have the film
processed.

I have been thinking of getting it out again, but don't know where after so many years to buy 120 or 220 film in both B&W and color.

can anyone make a suggestion?

B&H, Adorama, Freestyle Photo, Samy's, Calumet, ebay, your local pro shop. It's still available if you know where to look.

For processing, I know there's some mail-in places. Fortunately, my local pro shop still does a ton of 120 business so it's cheap and convenient for me.

FineArt, in Elizabeth, N.J. still does 120/220 color. You may have set up line for BW. I don't have the phone number handy, but if you like, I will try to find it for you. Meisel stopped processing film about two years ago.

Pick up a used P20 back. You can pick up a 16MP back for under $5K for your Hassy.

That's all well and good. FineArt processes 120 for about $ 3.00/Roll. That
$ 5k will buy more film and processing than nearly anyone would want to use.

Other side of the coin is the convenience of the digital workflow. The time saved on posting film back and forth, and the wait before you even see your images. You know, what probably stopped him from using the Hassy for 9 years in the first place and going fully digital.

#1...I cannot afford a digital back for the 500C. I am medically retired now...
If I could afford a digital back believe me I would have one.

#2...The reason I stopped using the Hass in the first place was a serious back injury that necessitated 3 surgeries and I could not get around much for a long time. Even to this day I have to be careful and have my good and bad days.

As a surprise my wife bought me a Olympus 2100UZ at that time and I was then hooked on digital and naturally I had to get photoshop for the computer to play with my images. And I am sure as most of you, I was hooked.
Approximately 8 digital cameras later....here I am sitting with great Canon gear.

So I will do as suggested from all of you and contact the different outlets for film and dust the Hassy off and play a bit.

I have been using E-Six lab in Atlanta to process my 4x5 slide and negative film.

http://www.e-sixlab.com/

They do an excellent job with good attention to detail. Plus they are very nice.

Agreed about the back, sorry to hear that. I have been 100% off work for 1 year now for the same reason, part time for years before that.

I worked myself into the ground trying to keep going with chronic pain, and am very slowly crawling back now (with the help of lots of meds.) I can even go to the food store and do exciting things like that without too much trouble - sometimes - now

Hi Duncan, hope your wife is as well as she can be. I will e-mail soon. I appreciate your help in the past!

Best,
Michael
