p.1 #1 · Catchlights for eyes: your suggestions?

What recommendations does anyone have for the best catchlights in a subject's eyes? I use catchlights cards attached to flash but the best effects I achieve are always large windows with strong sunlight coming through... be very interested to hear if anyone has novel or different suggestions?

Um, a 4' softbox usually does the trick! For round catchlights I'll go with a beauty dish.

"Best catchlights?" Traditionally, only one in each eye because there's only one sun.

Traditinally, outside portraits would have a single round catchlight (the sun again), indoor portraits would have a single square catchlight (a window).

That's "traditionally," of which you can make as you wish.

I've never heard of using "catchlight cards."

Large Softliter II is great for producing round catch-lights

A big white shoot through umbrella real close in makes a very nice catchlight plus provides a nice light source.
