I have a Canon S9000 printer which was used heavily for the first couple of year I had it, then infrequently until about 3 months ago when I started using it daily. It's on its second print-head but it seems to be on it's last legs and I'm going to have to replace it as well as the cleaning station. Even though it's being used regularly, the heads get clogged daily, and I'm cranking through a lot of ink to get the heads to run cleanly. Bottom line is that it's costing me more to run it than I can afford, and I'm trying to decide whether recent advances in printer technology would make it a smarter move to replace it rather than keep putting more $$ into it. I rarely print smaller than 8 1/2 x 11s and usually print 13x19s. If I do end up replacing it, I'd probably go with the PIXMA Pro 9000.
I second the suggestion of the Pro9000. If you print BW and/or use matte paper, the Pro9500 would be a better option, but on glossy papers and color output, the Pro9000 is very nice.
I have an S9000 sitting in the box - it is in need of a new print head but otherwise in near perfect condition and lightly used. If you have a head to swap in, it would be back in action. PM mail me if you are interested in purchasing it.
