yea, I love the MK 3's. I have been really happy with the images from the D & the DS. I know there has been a lot of discontent but as far as I am concerned I couldn't be happier.
As I said when I started this thread, technique would be paramount at 1.2.
Ok, OK, I just bought Trenchmonkey's 85L II. I hope you guys are happy now. But I asked him to keep the cat so I promise not to post a photo of that sort in case you have sensitive sensibilities.

mfoto I always like your people shots. Nice dog play shot in there too with those horse shots. This 85L shots thread wouldn't be complete w/o Lars' superb Thai shots.
Here's my old "Is is Time for Marshmellows Yet?" shot, taken in near dark conditions, Lake Tahoe, Calif campground. The 85L is a light vacuum.
Because they are always tack sharp, i was wondering are these pictures directly out of the box, or are they sharpened and further edited with some software program.
I do have myself the 85mm f1.2 II lens for just a few days on a 1 d mark II body, but if i look at lar's thai woman picture here , i do not get that sharpness with my lens.
Wow, this thread and the photos in here make me want to drop $1,700 on this lens. If I could justify spending that much money on glass like this, I would. Great shots, everyone!

You already bought it, go shoot it. You won't be dissapointed if you SHOOT it. Your first results may PO you, but try, try again. That lens is truly unique. PITA in unforgivingness, but truly UNIQUE.
The 85L mkII is the best lens that I own by some margin (including 35L), it's razor sharp at f/1.2 and I'm finding that it's fast enough for my uses. I am finding it strange that there are so many people knocking it and saying that you may as well go get the f/1.8 and save a ton of money. It really depends on what you need and can afford.
I've not owned the f/1.8 but have used one for a period long enough to decide it wasn't what I wanted but it's still a great lens and amazing value, much like the 50 f/1.4 is. I put my hand in my pocket to pay for my 85L and I've been nothing but delighted with it and I've earned decent money in using it. I also find it an inspiring lens and it's a joy to use.
