Mine was just delivered! WOW - this thing is heavy. I knew it wasn't small and light but this caught me by surprise Not to worry - From just a few test shots while sitting behind my desk, the quality is worth it.
I love the way the hood works - nice touch. The AF is a little noisy - I guess that is normal. It is slower than the 1.8 version but that is already known.
Oh, dearie me! This is not the easiest of lenses to use - there is a learning curve. The DOF is extremely narrow/shallow at f1.2 particularly at the near distance. The slightest movement or camera shake will cause the photo to misfocus or blur. Avoid the f1.2 aperture and focussing at the short distance .... for now .... and until you get a hang of this lens at the medium apertures. I don't always shoot at 1.2 anyway, as I prefer a bit more DOF, so I don't usually go below f2. I don't like to see one eye in focus and the other eye OOF. This lens is still very sweet at f2.
This is a beautiful photo of Jake. He looks very much like he is reflecting on the past. Unfortunately the time when all we have left is photos and memories comes all too quickly.
Wow, lots of great shots in this thread. I haven't read all the posts, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone has suggested their kit lens can do this stuff and we've all wasted our money .

Canfield, granted, you may not be the prettiest bloke on your block, but sure like heck you know how to use those studio lights. A real mastery, in my less than informed opinion.

Oh, but the children! Kidding of course. I agree those are nice shots and I especially like the second one. I imagine it'd be tough to go with the shallowest DOF when you can't look through the camera before taking the shot. Love the way the background just vanishes into blackness.
