Hi Everyone I am new to the post. I am also a newbe trying to learn all I can about photography and photoshop CS2. At this tim I am having problems with my raw files. I am trying to get them on photoshop via bridge. I have the DNG converter and trying to work with that and the adobe bridge is driving me crazy. Is there anyone out their that can help me step by step. Thanks in advance .
Does CS2 recognize your camera's file type? If you are shooting Canon RAW and depending on the camera model, the file extension may be .CR2.
If it were me, I would bypass Bridge for now and just get used to CS2. Bridge can help with cataloging and searching but for now, just try to get the image into CS2.
It’s been quite awhile since I’ve used Bridge (I switched to Lightroom) so if you must use Bridge, I believe you need to point it to your images and let it run for some time. I think it builds a database of images including keywords, EXIF data and the like.
Once this is done, I believe all you should have to do is open CS2 and to open an image, go to File, Search. Search opens Bridge and allows you to select images to open.
Hope this helps…if you can provide more details like camera type and any specific errors or specific process steps you are having trouble with, I’m sure there are people here that can help.
Thank you for getting back to me. It does not matter if I open the picture in CS2 or bridge. they will not open. I have checked the plugins and I have 3.7. I have tried to download 4.3 for some reason I am unable too. I did down load DNG I can convert my RAW files but I can't work with then in RAW format in CS2 they just upload as any other jpeg. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if my program is not working right. I will try anything if I understand it. This is all new to me I have been wokig in jpeg for awhile now...

I have 9.0.2. Looking it up this version supports the 40D.
You might want to double check that, I don't believe Photoshop 9 (CS2) supports 40D raw files - I believe you need to use the DNG converter to create a DNG file - CS2 can then open the DNG files.
Ok I did check and you are right. Were do I go from here. I have the DNG to convert the file but to make changes in RAW what do I need to do. Do I need a different photoshop like lightroom.
Use the DNG converter to convert your RAW files from Canon's version of RAW to the DNG version of RAW. (Your files will still be 'RAW,' just a different version of it.) Now you can open these DNG files with CS2, and they will open in the RAW converter, giving you the same control as you would have if you were opening a 10D RAW file. This was my work-around with my 5D and 1DMKIIN RAW files prior to my upgrade from CS to CS3.
mrjoe: I'm assuming the dng converter doesn't care which camera the RAW files have come from, and I think that's the idea of the dng format--universal. (Not sure about this, but it's my assumption.) If that's the case, everything I've said still holds. Convert your RAW files using the dng converter. You should then be able to load these in bridge and convert them with Adobe RAW converter (built into CS2).
Well there are two conversions. First, you must use the dng converter to convert to .dng. Then, open Photoshop and open Bridge. In bridge, find and open the folder containing your converted dng files. Once these load in bridge, you just double-click on a file and it will automatically open in the RAW converter (no other way to open a RAW file in photoshop).
