I use both - Neck Straps and Hand Straps. 90% of the time I use the hand strap, but there are times I need both hands and don't want to put my camera on the ground (e.g. many outdoor settings) so the neck strap lets me sling it over my shoulder. I also use the neck strap to carry my backup camera. I almost never use it to hold the camera I'm shooting with, I use the handstrap for that.

Do you carry two cameras ever? Can these be used with another camera on a regular strap / bracket?
I really like the looks of them when using one body but I am almost always carrying two when shooting weddings.
I carry both cameras almost all the time when I shoot weddings. I use the R-strap to carry my 2nd body, and keep the other in my hand usually. I don't think you would have problems using it with another camera on a regular strap.
You can PM me if you want any more info about them.

I have 2 straps from black rapid and although they are kinda spendy, I think they are well worth it. They work just like advertised, and they are very well made (and in the US, I think, which probably accounts for some of the $$).
I also have to say they have some of the best customer experience I've ever seen! They went completely out of their way to get me a strap in time for a recent wedding, and all on their nickel. After using it, I have to say its the best way I've found thus far to carry both my cameras at weddings....Show more →
THESE ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!
I have several and it is amazing, especially for our second body around our necks.
I have neck straps. However, this past summer when in St. Petersburg (Russia) I had the strap over my shoulder with the camera under my left arm. My wife and I were suddenly confronted with a busy corner and I was bumped and a few seconds later my wife noticed that my lens (24-105mm f/4 L IS) was gone. I still had the camera body but the lens was gone.
I spent about three hours in Russian police station to get a report for the insurance and later was able to recover most of the cost of a new one. I am now wondering if I would have been better off with a handstrap.
I take off the stock strap and use an op/tech pro strap. Comfortable and doesn't slip...I wear two with two bodies every wedding and it's way more comfy than the stock canon...
It's the only way I can carry 2 bodies when doing a wedding. One camera has 70-200 2.8L IS (My 1DS MII camera) and the other has a 24-70 2.8L (5D). I have rarely had to switch the lenses to anything else.
I always have a hand grip on... and for a long time use a neck strap as well. Recently, I junked it and have just the hand strap..... and love it without the neck strap.

Truly the last camera strap I will use!
I bought one of these from this recommendation and I have to agree completely with the two other posters. Best camera strap system I have seen. It completely takes all of the weight off your neck, is simple to bring up into use and keeps your camera and lense protected by being close to your side at arms length.

how about if you want to wear two cameras with the strap from blackrapid.com? Do they both go on each shoulder, or do they crisscross?
I asked them that exact question. They responded:
Quote directly from their email:
Yes, we already have several patents pending on a 2 strap version.
It's a pretty slick little system, where one strap is diagonal and the other vertical which clips into the shoulder pad of the diagonal strap. The diagonal strap is the typical R-Strap, which allows the camera to rest at the right hip, and slide up the strap to take the picture. The vertical strap hangs directly down from the left shoulder (still inverted camera attached via the tripod socket, like the R-Strap), but secured into the R-Strap shoulder pad; this one you just lift up from the left hip, it doesn't really slide up like the R-Strap. The cool thing about it is that it will all be modular, so you can attached the two straps together, or just use one or the other.
This system will be available this Spring/Summer. We really want to perfect it first, before it goes to market.

thats a very interesting product....but it only ATTACHED TO the lens ?
what about those short lens without a tripod ring?
how are we going to use that strap.

Well I guess then you would attach it directly to the tripod connector, of course the balance would not be the same but I guess that's just one of those things.
This is the first strap product I would consider...
At the moment I have shortened the straps on both cams as much as possible so if they are over my shoulder and I have to bend down the long lenses don't bounce off the ground
I can't wear them around my neck and one really can't handle two bodies with only hand straps....

I have used this now at several events.
When using a short lens, (50 1.4) I use the tripod ring attached to the bottom of the camera. They include a piece of hardware to use but I found it is a little large and protrudes too much when needing to shoot portrait orientation. With the tripod mount and attaching to that ring on the bottom of the camera, it works very nicely.
When I use two cameras, i use two straps-one around my neck for my main camera, and the backup over just my shoulder. When I am not using the main camera, I put it under my arm in back (which involves quickly putting my arm through the strap as well. not a perfect system, but works fine for me-and i have the basic Canon straps that came with the 20D.
