p.1 #1 · Wallkill River NWR (12)

The eagle sightings have slowed down abit, up around the Delaware area, so I was happy to find a national wildlife refuge along the Wallkill River, only 6 miles away from my home. This river flows north and empties into the Hudson up by Kingston, N.Y. With 20 degree temps, frozen wetlands and river edges,I was quite surprised to find a blue heron perched high in a tree, an active kingfisher, small flocks of robins, bluebirds and numerous sparrow species. Thanks. Herb

#4 muskrat, when spooked he'd dive under and you could see him under the ice swimming up and down looking for another hole.

Great shots, the bluebird is my favorite. The exif says 600mm f5.6 on most of the photos. Was this the 600L or 300L with a 2x attached? Either way, they look great!

Super set, Herb. I like that Tit the most out this series followed closely buy that shot of the mocker in heaven. That path looks like it would be a great place to take a stroll in the spring and summer after it greens up a bit.

Thanks Pat. That was the 300 f2.8 with the 2x converter on most of the shots.

Thanks Ken. Yeah, it's quite a neat path, 2 miles long one way, and it ends at a bend in the river, with numerous benches and a roofless blind by marsh waters. Supposedly a wood duck haven.

Thanks Dave, and it looks like I found another green heron spot. There are numerous species signs along the trail with the greeny being one of the frontrunners. Herb
