I was wondering if anyone had more information on this as I would love to be able to use the lens on a Mark II
1-Has anybody ordered the additional rear plastic cover from Canon? How much is the part from Canon and what is it called?
2-Do you really need to replace the rear cover after it is pulled off? OR Can you use the lens on a 1.3 crop camera by just pulling off the cover?
3-Has anybody tried the trick of putting a spacer between the lens and a filter?

#1 i'm also looking to buy the rear plastic cover, the one that Al_10 used in his modification is from a broken ef 35mm lens.

#2 you can use the lens without the cover on your 1d body. i've tried it and its seems to be wider at 13mm on my 1dmkIIn than at 10mm on my 400d. i think you need to replace the plastic cover in order to protect the PCB and chips inside from dust and other minute things that may enter into it cause its too open. otherwise it still works.

# 3 i've tried the spacer trick in front myself and it works... i had mine limited to 13mm. what i did was to stick the spacer on the filter and not the front of the lens so that when i want to use it on my 400d and make use of the 10mm, all i need to do is just remove the filter.

Wow..great modification tips!! Could someone please post photos of how the spacer and filter is used to stop zooming beyond 12mm please. I'm a rather mechanically challenged and visiually inclined pertson who needs picture and photos to follow instructions. Any help in this would be very much appreciated. Thanks

p.3 #3 · EF-S 10-22 on 1D Mk III @ 12mm

The photo looks great in the middle but horrible at the sides - its so soft! I have the Sigma 10-20mm and I believe it can be used on the 1D without modification from 12mm onwards. Can anybody comment if this is true? Also, does anyone know if it works on FF? I am asking as I might be upgrading to a 1D or 5D soon.
Thanks

Has anyone tried or have info on the EF-S 60 mm macro on a 1dmkII., with out an extension tube. Just the lens with out the cover?
Seems it should work. This would make for a great walk around lens.
