p.1 #1 · Places to shoot wildlife in San Fran area?
I'm heading out to California (Merced) on Saturday for work but will have all day Sunday to do whatever I want. I was wondering if there are any places within an hour or so from San Fran that would be good for wildlife photography?
I live in Boston so it's freezing here and there's not too much to shoot right now. I don't really want to lug my stuff there to take street-type photography
Any ideas on where I can go to take pics would be appreciated.

It looks like much of California is likely to be on and off wet all weekend, and some to a lot of rain Sunday. Yosemite Valley is close to Merced and if conditions are right, you might get snow in the valley - or rain with the weekenders. You'd probably need to have chains along, just in case.
Maybe Monterey but it's forecast is even wetter and the drive could be longer than you might want.
